Adelaide Gyuto Knife

Adelaide Gyuto Knife

Posted by Ramon Elzinga on

Adelaide was the city where Koi Knives was founded and the Japanese Gyuto knife is the first style of knife we ever made - so when we were asked by an Adelaide based customer to style and craft a Gyuto knife in honour of Adelaide we ourselves were honoured.

Colour of the Handle

For the handle of the Japanese Gyuto Knife in the style of Adelaide we agreed to start with a handle that represented the cricket team - a red resin infused burl handle. For this Gyuto knife we sourced this Adelaide knife from just South of Adelaide itself - in Mclaren Vale (the southern home for wonderful wines).

While this red choice was made to honour the local cricket team (the Redbacks) this choice also paid homage to the wine region of South Australia - using Shiraz wooden burl for the Adelaide knife handle.

Blade Design & Engraving

When it came to an Adelaide logo we had numerous sources however due to the constant battles between the two local AFL sporting teams we decided the animal the represents Adelaide would be the Red Back Spider.

This is a one off Gyuto knife that we made for an anonymous customer in Adelaide.
